<p style="text-align: left;">The Noongar Charitable Trust (The Trust) was established in June 2011 to pool resources derived from the development of former Aboriginal Lands Trust Land in Gnangara and apply such funds to support specific charitable objectives for the Noongar peoples or organisations established for the benefit thereof.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The charitable objects and purposes of the Trust are – the relief of poverty, sickness, suffering, destitution misfortune and helplessness of the Noongar Community.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The beneficiaries of the Noongar Charitable Trust (NCT) are the Community – Noongar People and the organisations established for the benefit of same. The founder of the NCT was the South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Corporation (SWALSC).</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The original Trustee was ANZ Trustees Limited. ANZ Trustees became the Trustee in 2011 when the Trust was established, and by virtue of a corporate takeover, Equity Trustees (EQT) became Trustee in 2014.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The capital investments held within the Trust generate regular income for the use of the community now. This income must be distributed to members of the community according to the charitable objectives of the Trust. The capital base is to be preserved for future generations.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">Advisory Council</h3>
<p style="text-align: left;">Under the Trust Deed, Equity Trustees is guided in the administration of the Trust by a group of Advisory Council members (the Advisory Council). The Advisory Council are the important link between Equity Trustees and the community and provide a critical role in advising on community needs and priorities for the expenditure of Trust funds according to the Trust’s charitable objectives. Advisory Council members are appointed by Equity Trustees. There shall be a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 7 members of the Advisory Council appointed at one time. Appointments are made for two (2) years.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Equity Trustees are to give priority to those members nominated by representative bodies such as the SWALSC, who are considered to be representative of the Noongar Peoples.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">Commitments</h3>
<p style="text-align: left;">The Advisory Council currently meet on a monthly basis for Advisory Council business and consideration. On a quarterly basis, the Advisory Council consider grant funding applications and<br />
distributions as part of these meetings. The duration of these meetings is approximately 3 hours and Advisory Council member are expected to attend in person. Additional out of session meetings may occur on an ad hoc basis that require the attendance of the Advisory Council members.</p>
