Shelley Cable is a Wilman-Nyoongar woman from Perth, Western Australia, and Director of Minderoo Foundation’s Generation One initiative.
Shelley is on a mission, through Generation One, to create employment parity with and for Indigenous Australians in one generation. To achieve this, Generation One is working towards the ambitious goal of supporting 300,000 more Indigenous Australians into work by 2040.
In 2017, Shelley attended the United Nations’ Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, where she presented on the role of financial literacy in protecting human rights, and had her recommendation formally endorsed.
Shelley is a qualified Company Director (GAICD) and a qualified accountant (CPA) – one of only 100 Indigenous accountants in Australia. Shelley was also a delegate to the 2017 Uluru Convention on Constitutional Recognition, and is an Advisory Council member to the Noongar Charitable Trust.
